I was delighted this January to be selected for the BJP’s Portrait of Britain 2021, Vol 4, published by Hoxton Mini Press, for my portrait of Adrian Lukis.
A successful actor with hundreds of stage & screen appearances to his name, he’s best known as dastardly Mr Wickham from the BBC’s timeless adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. We shot light, bright, promotional images for a new faux-reality streaming show on this topic, but when I asked him to sit for five minutes for a more painterly ‘real’ portrait, he couldn’t help delivering a roguish twinkle. Some roles, you never leave behind…
