Silver at the 2024 AOP Awards!
There was great rejoicing (for me, at least) last week when I won Silver at the Association of Photographers (AOP) 2024 Awards, at a glitzy ceremony in London.
Judged by an array of top-notch industry folk & featuring a who’s who of the contemporary UK photographic scene, these awards are a highlight of the British photography calendar, basically the photo Oliviers, Brits or BAFTAs.
Lifestyle Category: Choirboy for Bristol Old Vic
I had images as finalists in two categories, but this campaign for Bristol Old Vic, created with brilliant art director/graphic designer Steph Pyne, was awarded Silver at the AOP Awards by a panel including Jaki Jo Hannan (Head of Print Production and Experiential, adam&eve DDB), photographer Julian Love and Matthew Beaman, (Director of Photography Monocle).
It was hard to believe it had actually been shot in a studio – it was so natural feeling, beautifully lit, wonderfully natural expressions..
Cue a rather surprised me heading up on stage to receive the Award, and much partying thereafter!

The Awards Book
Of course, the night was brilliant and it was lovely to win a silver, but being part of the awards publication is genuinely, lastingly meaningful.
It’s a real showpiece annual – and a book I refer to year round for inspiration with each successive edition – packed as it is with some of the highest quality and most breathtaking imagery being made in the UK and beyond.
