We’re Steel Here: Standing at the Sky’s Edge in London Theatre Magazine

Shooting the three female leads of the hit Richard Hawley musical, Laura Pitt Pulford, Rachel Wooding & Elizabeth Ayodele for the cover of the March edition London Theatre Magazine.

I recently followed up shooting the cover of the first ever London Theatre Magazine, with an assignment to photograph three female leads of another hit transfer, Standing at the Sky’s Edge for the March edition.

Sheffield Steel

The Chris Bush and Richard Hawley-penned musical is set in the iconic Park Hill Estate in Sheffield, and is a real ensemble piece that tracks the lives of a medley of residents over six decades.

As such, there isn’t a single star, and featuring three of the female leads offered the magazine a succinct way to highlight the show’s diverse collective.

With styling from the in-house Today Tix team focusing on an eye-catching colour palette, my team set up a popup studio in the foyer at the Gillian Lynne Theatre around rehearsals and I matched that aesthetic with block colour backdrops to reference the show’s key art & some punchy lighting.

Getting three faces onto a cover in a natural-feeling shot can be tricky, but thank fully Laura, Rachael & Elizabeth were grace itself, both in the group shots & the solos.

Hopefully, the results speak for themselves – another cover to draw the eye!
